about
Born in Bridgend in 1959 to Gwyn and Brenda (née Bradshaw) Jones, Colin was educated in Bridgend, Maesteg and Cardiff. He gained a BSc from the Welsh School of Architecture, and learnt Welsh as an adult.
As well as producing animation for broadcast television and having cartoons published in Yr Hogwr, Y Cymro and Golwg, Colin was responsible for a number of hit computer games, one of which – ‘A Rock Star Ate My Hamster’ had the dubious honor of being banned from the multiples. A mere twenty years later, the game was featured in ‘The 50 Best Rock & Roll Video Games of All Time’ in America’s legendary Rolling Stone magazine (a feat made even more remarkable by the fact that the game was never released in the US).
Another of Colin’s games ‘Slighty Magic’ was voted one of the Top 100 Games of All Time by Your Sinclair readers. He has written the lyrics and storyline for an electro-music concept CD and worked on some of the world’s first interactive pop videos.
Colin is also still busy with Cadw Swn (the speedy way to learn Welsh using the revolutionary power of classical music) and also teaches Welsh to adults at a remarkable speed. He has had numerous books and cartoons published.
Colin currently resides in the paradise of the Llynfi Valley with his partner and two children. His interests include the meaning of life, chocolate, running, and helping people achieve their true potential (which is infinite).
October 2008 saw the release of Mabinogion, the Four Branches, an audio collection of the ancient Welsh epic. Read and recorded by Colin, the initial presentation edition comes with art inserts by Howard David Johnson, and a bonus Introduction CD from Colin.
2009 saw the release of the short audio course ‘Getting Quiet’, a simple path to a clear mind. More details can be found at www.gettingquiet.com
In 2011 Colin formed Potassium Frog Ltd, a major commitment to interactive entertainment. www.potassiumfrog.com
